In the event of a claim your safety is most important.
Once you and your family are safe take necessary steps to prevent further damage to your property. For example, if you suffer a water damage loss go ahead and call a water removal company immediately to start the drying process.
Save all receipts to verify any money you spend to be properly reimbursed by your insurance company.
Document all damage with photos or video.
